The Lake Forest College track team traveled to Waukesha, Wisconsin, for Carroll University's Pioneer Open on Sunday. The Foresters' first outdoor meet of 2022 was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved back a day due to weather.
Morland was the fastest of 28 runners in the 1500m, crossing the finish line with a career-best time of 4:56.33 to win by less than a second. She is just the second runner in program history to complete the race in less than five minutes, joining Yaneli Guajardo, who owns the record at 4:51.52.
The Foresters' only other point at the meet came in the women's 400m, where junior Mary Laura Carey was eighth in 1:23.03.
Freshman Bart Brophy turned in the best finish for the Lake Forest men, placing 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:08.10. Classmate Andrew Douthat had the meet's 15th-fastest time in the prelims of the 100m and his time of 11.83 seconds was just .05 seconds off the program record.
Lake Forest will be off next weekend before competing in Wheaton College's Don Church Twilight Meet on Saturday, April 23.
