The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 6-1 at Milwaukee School of Engineering, the 11th-ranked team in the nation, Saturday night in the opener of the teams' Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series. Sophomore Zak Borowski scored the visitors' only goal.
Borowski's score, his sixth of the season , was scored at the 16:05 mark of the opening period and tied the game at one. He was assisted by freshman Chris Gard and senior Tyler Gross.
M.S.O.E. regained the lead at 6:57 in the second period and doubled their advantage three minutes later.
The Raiders pulled away in the third period. They took advantage of a delayed penalty and scored with an extra attacker at 5:30, added another insurance goal two minutes later, and tacked on the game's final tally at 12:43.
The Foresters fell to 5-20-1 on the season while M.S.O.E. raised its record to 20-5-1.
The same two teams will face off at 3:00 Sunday afternoon. The Raiders can win the series with a win or tie while Lake Forest needs a victory to force a decisive 20-minute mini-game, which would begin shortly after the completion of game two of the series.
