The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 4-2 by visiting Lawrence University on Saturday. Forester sophomore Trent Brown scored his first goal of the season.
Brown's power play score with just 19 seconds to play in the opening period tied the game at one. Junior Ethan Goldberg and sophomore Tom Bark each earned an assist on the play.
The Foresters were out-shot 8-7 in the period.
Lawrence had a 16-11 advantage in shots on goal in the second period and regained the lead on a power play goal at 6:17.
Lake Forest tied the game again on sophomore David Sharpe's first goal as a Forester at the 8:23 mark. The power play score was assisted by classmate Zak Borowski, who, along with Bark, has at least one point in all four of the team's games so far this year.
The Foresters out-shot the visitors 14-11 in the third period but Vikings took the lead for good on a power play goal with just 1:56 remaining in the third period. The visitors then tacked on an empty net goal with five ticks left on the clock.
Junior goaltender Marc Stuart stopped 31 of the 34 shots on goal he faced in his Lake Forest debut.
Lake Forest fell to 2-2-0 overall and in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association. Lawrence raised its overall record to 5-1-0 and its league mark to a perfect 4-0-0.
The Foresters will continue MWC play next weekend against visiting Adrian College, the 12th-ranked team in the nation. The games will be played Friday night at 7:30 and Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
