The Forester men's hockey team prevailed 6-1 at Concordia University Wisconsin Wednesday night. Lake Forest senior Jordan Cutler scored one goal and assisted on two others for his first career three-point game.
Cutler and sophomore Ethan Goldberg assisted on sophomore Phil Bushbacher's third goal of the season to start the scoring four minutes and 10 seconds into the contest. Cutler and Bushbacher then set up Goldberg's first score of the year at 10:36. Cutler closed out the first period scoring with a power play goal at 18:06. Sophomores Tom Bark and Trent Brown assisted on Cutler's fourth goal of the season.
The visitors scored three more times in the second period, beginning with a power play goal by Bark at the 6-minute mark. His third score of 2010-11 was assisted by senior Zach Kozak and junior Ben Finney. Kozak then netted the Foresters' third power play goal of the game and his second score of the season at 9:40 with Brown and junior Chad Thompson picking up the assists. A trio of freshmen combined for Lake Forest's final goal with 6:46 to play in the second. Zack Smith lit the lamp for the first time in his collegiate career with Chris Gard and Pat Charron each credited with an assist.
Concordia Wisconsin scored its only goal of the game on sophomore Brendan Sullivan at the 13:56 mark of the third. He finished the contest with 31 saves, including a dozen in each of the final two periods. Sullivan raised his save percentage on the season to .913.
Lake Forest is now 3-11-0 overall and 3-6-0 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Falcons fell to 1-14-0 overall and 1-9-0 in the league. The same two teams will face off again in Lake Forest Saturday night at 7:30.
