The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 5-1 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday night. Forester junior defenseman Chad Thompson scored his second goal of the season late in the contest.
River Falls took the early lead on goals at the 5:32 and 15:56 marks of the opening period. The Falcons added another insurance goal at 4:13 in the second and a power play score with 1:54 remaining in the period. The home team increased its lead to 5-1 at 11:22 in the third.
Thompson netted the Foresters' lone goal while on the power play with just nine seconds to play in the contest. He was assisted by fellow junior defenseman Ben Finney.
Lake Forest had a 44-43 edge in shots on goal in the game.
It was the Foresters' final non-conference game of the 2010-11 regular season. The team will resume Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday, January 7.
