The Lake Forest College men's hockey team fell 5-3 at Adrian College, the nation's sixth-ranked team, on Saturday. Forester sophomore Justin Crawford scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in the contest.
Adrian led 3-2 after the opening period. The home team started the scoring just 69 seconds into the contest and netted another goal 70 seconds later. Lake Forest got on the scoreboard at the 3:49 mark when sophomore Phil Bushbacher scored for the team-high 10th time this season. He was assisted by classmate Ethan Goldberg. The Bulldogs regained their two-goal advantage on a shorthanded goal at 6:52 but the Foresters pulled back to within one when Crawford assisted on senior Zach Kozak's fourth goal of the year with just 23 seconds on the clock.
After the teams combined for five goals in the first period, Crawford scored the only one of the second. It came at the 18:04 mark and freshman Chris Gard was credited with the assist.
Adrian broke the 3-3 tie six minutes and 12 seconds into the third period and added an insurance goal at 9:08.
The Foresters fell to 4-16-1 overall this season and 4-11-1 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. Adrian is now 17-3-1 overall and 14-1-1 in the league.
Lake Forest will play a home-and-home series with Milwaukee School of Engineering next weekend. The teams will face off in Lake Forest at 7:30 Friday night and in Milwaukee at 7:00 the next evening.
