The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 4-2 at Northland College on Saturday. Lake Forest sophomore Andrew Rocca scored his first career goal in the loss.
Forester senior Anthony Ventura started the scoring three minutes and 50 seconds into the contest. His second goal of the season was assisted by sophomores Phil Bushbacher and Ethan Goldberg.
Northland, however, evened the score at the 14:01 mark of the first period and took the lead at the 4:12 mark of the second.
Rocca knotted the score at two at 14:46 in the second. Sophomores Trent Brown and Tom Bark assisted on the power play goal.
The LumberJacks regained the lead with 5:23 to play in the third period and tacked on an empty net goal with 27 ticks on the clock to secure the victory.
Foresters junior goaltender Marc Stuart stopped exactly 90 percent of the 30 shots on goal he faced in the contest.
Lake Forest is now 4-12-1 and Northland 5-11-1 overall this season and both teams have a 4-7-1 record in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play.
The Foresters will play a home-and-home series with Marian University next weekend. The teams will face off at 7:00 Friday night in Find du Lac, Wisconsin, and at 7:30 Saturday night in Lake Forest. A live radio broadcast of Saturday's contest will be available at www.wmxm.org. It will also be alumni night and the team's annual Peter Taylor Award will be presented between the first and second periods.
