The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 2-1 Tuesday night by visiting St. Norbert College, the nation's third-ranked team. Senior Zach Kozak scored his first goal of the season midway through the third period to bring the Foresters to within one.
St. Norbert netted both of its goals during the second period on the power play. The first was scored at the 15:35 mark and the second with just 46 seconds to play in the period.
Kozak, who did not play in 2009-10, scored his first goal since January 24, 2009. He was assisted by sophomores Tom Bark and Trent Brown with 9:14 to play in the third period.
Forester junior goaltender Marc Stuart saves 34 of 36 shots on goal, including all nine he faced in both the first and third periods. He raised his save percentage on the season to .929.
The Green Knights outshot the Foresters 9-8 in the first period and 18-10 in the second before both teams put nine shots on goal in the third.
Lake Forest fell to 2-5-0 on the season while St. Norbert raised its mark to 7-1-0. The Foresters will play two more non-conference games at St. Olaf College this weekend. The teams will face off at 7:00 Friday night and at 2:00 the following afternoon.
