Lake Forest College women's hockey player Michelle Greeneway was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring a total of five goals in two victories last weekend as the Foresters clinched the league's regular season title.
Greeneway, a sophomore forward, scored a pair of goals in Lake Forest's 4-1 triumph at Concordia University Wisconsin Friday night. The first broke a scoreless tie early in the second period and the second, a power play score later in the period, turned out to be the official game-winning goal.
After scoring the first two goals of Friday night's contest, Greeneway netted the first three in a 3-2 victory at Marian University the following afternoon. She gave the visitors the lead with 32 seconds to play in the opening period and added scores at 10:31 and 13:02 in the second.
Greeneway's final tally of the weekend was her program record 29th of the year and occurred just less than four months after she broke the women's soccer team's single-season record for goals. After just two seasons, her 52 career scores in hockey rank third in program history behind Kim Herring's 63 and Courtney DeHoey's 53.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations. Greeneway also earned the award on February 11 and once as a freshman.
