The Forester men's soccer team suffered its seventh one-goal loss of the season Thursday night, a 3-2 decision at Benedictine University. Lake Forest senior Kyle Kraus had a goal and an assist in the contest.
Kraus set up freshman Elyas Ingram on the Foresters' first goal at 66:13. Ingram's sixth score of the season trimmed the Eagle lead to 2-1.
After the home team seemingly put the game out of reach with a goal off a corner kick at 83:05, Kraus was able to kick in a cross from junior Dylan Hartman with 2:41 remaining in the game.
The Foresters out-shot the Eagles 16-5 in the second half but were unable to tie the score.
Lake Forest had a 22-12 advantage in shots and a 9-6 edge in shots on goal in the game.
The non-conference loss drops the Foresters' overall record on the season to 6-9-2. Benedictine is now 9-6-1.
Lake Forest will close out the regular season against visiting Knox College next Saturday (November 1) at noon.
