The Forester men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Edgewood College on Sunday, despite freshman Dayne Johnson scoring his first career goal.
Johnson's score tied the game at one at the 36:01 mark. He was assisted by junior Dylan Hartman, who worked his way into the box from the left side if the field before passing to Johnson for the goal.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 13-4 in the first half and 10-4 in the second but was unable to score again. Twelve of the Foresters' 23 shots in the game were on goal but 11 were saved by the Edgewood goalkeeper.
The Eagles netted the game winner with just 39.5 seconds remaining in the contest. The ball touched several players in front of the goal before being headed in.
Forester senior goalie Ian Taylor made a save in each half.
Lake Forest fell to 1-5-0 on the season while Edgewood improved to 2-3-0.
The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play next Saturday against visiting Ripon College. The Homecoming game will begin at 9:00 a.m.
