The Forester men's soccer team tied visiting Grinnell College 1-1 on Saturday to remain unbeaten in Midwest Conference play this season. Freshman Seton Trostle scored Lake Forest's only goal early in the second half.
Trostle's second goal of the season was set up by senior Kyle Kraus, who carried the ball up the left side of the field, around the corner, and into the goalie box. His pass in front of the goal was intercepted by a Grinnell defender, whose attempt to clear the ball sent it straight to Trostle on the left side of the field. Trostle wound up and kicked it past the Pioneer goalkeeper to give the home team the lead at the 57:51 mark.
Grinnell eventually tied the game with 19:34 on the clock and neither team was able to score again.
The Foresters out-shot their guests 6-2 in the opening half, 14-2 in the second period, 3-0 in the first overtime and 3-2 in the final 10 minutes.
Lake Forest senior goalkeeper made one save on the day and lowered his goals against average on the season to 1.37.
The Foresters are now 2-6-2 overall this year and 1-0-2 in conference play. Grinnell is 4-3-3 overall and 0-2-1 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue MWC play Sunday against Cornell College. The game will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be a celebration of International Soccer Day and serve as a kickoff to the College's Global Fest.
