The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated Edgewood College 1-0 on the road on Sunday and is now 6-0-0 for the first time in program history. Forester freshman Kayla Wuest scored the only goal of the day less than 10 minutes into the contest.
Senior Michele Giurovici assisted on Wuest's second goal of the season and first career game-winner.
Lake Forest had a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal in the opening half and and out-shot the home team 11-8 in the final 45 minutes. The Foresters put four shots on goal in each period.
Forester sophomore Rachel Tenuta made four saves, including three after halftime, to earn her second straight shutout and improve to 3-0-0 with a 0.67 goals against average on the season. She has not allowed a goal in more than 220 minutes and she extended Lake Forest's shutout streak to 286:57.
Lake Forest had started a season with five consecutive victories in 2001 and 2010 but lost the sixth game both years.
The Foresters will attempt to extend their winning streak on Tuesday against visiting Dominican University. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m.
