The Lake Forest College women's soccer team is now 4-0-0 on the season after posting a 2-0 victory at Macalester on Sunday. The game was part of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) Soccer Showcase. It was the fourth career shutout for Forester sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta.
Tenuta made seven saves in the contest, including five in a scoreless first half. She is now 2-0-0 on the season with a 1.00 goals against average.
The Foresters finally got on the scoreboard at the 55:25 mark on junior Michelle Greeneway's sixth goal of the season. She took a through ball from classmate Fiona Jessup and caromed the ball off the left post and into the net. It was Greeneway's third game-winning goal of the year and 13th of her career, breaking a tie with Melissa Stevenson (2002-05) for first place in program history.
Freshman Kayla Wuest extended the Forester lead on her first career goal with 7:54 to play in the contest. She took a pass from junior Nicole Ostro on the left side, avoided one defender, and scored just inside the near post to all but clinch the victory.
The Foresters had the wind at their backs in the first half but were out-shot 9-8 in the period. Going into the wind for the final 45 minutes, Lake Forest had a 10-4 advantage in shots and put six of those attempts on target.
It was Macalester's first loss in three games this year.
Lake Forest will be in action next on Thursday at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
