Lake Forest College's Cass Barbera was chosen as the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Foresters to a pair of victories in league play last week.
Barbera scored a pair of goals in the first quarter of Lake Forest's 17-4 triumph over Wartburg College last Monday. The freshman midfielder added another score in the fourth to complete her first collegiate hat trick.
The Foresters routed Augsburg College 21-1 on Saturday and Barbera set a new career-high with four goals and added an assist in the contest. Her first two tallies came just 12 seconds apart in the opening period and she added a score in the third and another in the fourth.
In addition to her eight points on the week, Barbera picked up seven ground balls, recorded five draw controls, and caused a team-high six turnovers while committing just one herself in the two games combined.
Barbera ranks second on the team with 22 goals and 34 draw controls this season.
MWLC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Barbera is the fourth Forester to earn the award on offense this spring.
