The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team scored six unanswered goals in the second half on Saturday but still fell 12-8 to visiting Madonna University.

Forester freshman Savanah Frauhiger started the scoring three minutes into the contest with her sixth goal of the season.

The Crusaders, however, scored the next three goals and followed up a score by Lake Forest sophomore Lila Beckwith at the 3:15 mark with two more tallies in the period.

Already ahead 5-2 entering the second quarter, Madonna scored seven times in the period and took a 12-2 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Forester defense stiffened and the offense got rolling in the second half. Sophomore Ali Graham reached double figures in goal on the season just 38 seconds into the third quarter and freshman Jenna Doctor added her team-high 12th with 9:27 on the clock. Lake Forest was down two players when Beckwith struck for the second time in the game and fourth this year, trimming the deficit to seven with four minutes to play in the period.

The score remained 12-5 until, with 6:19 to play in the contest, Forester freshman Cass Barbera scored for the seventh time this season. Junior Emma Tryder added a pair of goals in the final minute to take her raised her season total to 10 and pull the home team to within four. She has now scored at least twice in each of the team's four games this season.

Lake Forest freshman goalie Calliope Saban matched her season-high with five saves in the game.

The loss was the Foresters' first of 2022 while Madonna improved to 3-0.

Lake Forest's next game will be on Thursday, March 24, against Concordia University Chicago. The Foresters' first game on Mohr Field will begin at 4:30 p.m.
