Lake Forest hosted and defeated Wartburg College 17-4 on Monday to remain perfect in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play.

Four Foresters scored three times in the contest. Sophomore Ali Graham now has four hat tricks on the season, sophomore Ryleigh Nelson and freshman Ashley Carr two, and freshman Cass Barbera one.

It was freshman Jenna Doctor who started the scoring just 80 seconds into the game. Nelson earned her team-high 13th assist on the goal. After the Knights tied the score, the home team rattled off four straight, beginning with freshman Krissy Kuwahara's free position shot. Barbera struck twice and Nelson made it a 5-1 game with 50 seconds on the clock. Wartburg scored again with two seconds left, making the score 5-2 after the opening period.

A goal from Graham and two from Carr increased the margin to six and, after a score from the visitors, the Foresters led 9-3 at halftime.

All five goals in the third quarter came from the home team. Graham started the streak and Carr followed with her 14th tally of 2022. Nelson struck twice to raise her season goal total to 15 and Graham's successful free position shot gave her 18 scores this year.

In the fourth period Barbera matched Graham's season goal total, freshman Abby Meyer netted her fourth, and Kuwahara scored number 19 of the year to extend the Foresters' run to eight straight goals. The Knights finally ended the streak but Doctor tacked on one more goal, her team-high 28th of the season, to close out the scoring.

In addition to scoring three times, Graham led all players in the game with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers while also adding three draw controls.

Lake Forest freshman goalie Calliope Saban stopped 13 of 17 shots on goal in the game and raised her save percentage on the season to a league-best 47.5 percent.

The Foresters improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in MWLC play while Wartburg fell to 3-9 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Lake Forest will close out the regular season with a pair of MWLC home games this weekend. The Foresters will host Augsburg College for Senior Day on Saturday and Hamline University, who is also undefeated in league play, on Sunday. Both games will begin at 11:00 a.m.
