The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team hosted and defeated Concordia University Chicago 11-8 on Thursday.

It snowed throughout the opening half of the Foresters' first game on Mohr Field. The beginning of the game was good to the Foresters, who pulled out to a 3-0 first quarter lead thanks to goals from junior Emma Tryder and freshmen Savannah Frauhiger and Jenna Doctor.

Concordia Chicago got on the scoreboard in the final seconds of the first and continued what turned into a five-goal run in the second. A score by Forester freshman Krissy Kuwahara with 1:09 to play made the score 5-4 in favor of the visitors at halftime.

Lake Forest freshman Ashley Carr scored to tie the game at the 6:05 mark of the third quarter but a pair of tallies from the Cougars in the last minute-and-a-half of the period gave them a 7-5 lead with 15 minutes to play.

Ali Graham scored with 14:15 remaining to pull the Foresters back to within one but Concordia Chicago answered less than two minutes later. Graham struck again with 11:30 left and freshman Cass Barbera tied the score just 38 seconds later. Doctor netted her second score of the contest to give the home team the lead with 9:40 on the clock and Graham completed her third hat trick of the season at the 4:39 mark. Kuwahara added the team's seventh free position goal of the game in the final seconds.

Forester freshman goalie Calliope Saban made five of her season-high nine saves in the fourth quarter to help complete the comeback.

In addition to scoring twice, Kuwahara tied for the team lead with three ground balls, three draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers.

Lake Forest improved to 4-1 on the season while Concordia Chicago fell to 2-5.

The Foresters will travel to Carthage College on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
