The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team was defeated 20-5 at Carthage College on Saturday.

The Firebirds took control of the game early, netting 11 goals in the opening quarter and two more in the second before the Foresters's first score of the contest.

Lake Forest freshman Ashley Carr stopped the Carthage run with her sixth goal of the season and sophomore Ryleigh Nelson added her eighth later in the period.

Carthage led 14-2 at the half and both teams scored twice in the third quarter. Both Foresters tallies came from freshman Savannah Frauhiger, who now has nine of the year.

Frauhiger, who is the only player on the team to score in all six games, earned an assist on freshman Krissy Kuwahara's ninth goal of the season early in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for the visitors they did not score again and the Firebirds added four more to their total.

Lake Forest is now 4-2 and Carthage 7-1 on the year.

The Foresters will host another non-conference game against Beloit College Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
