Foresters Start Fast, Cruise to Victory over Beloit

The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Beloit College 17-5 on Wednesday.

Freshmen Ashley Carr and Krissy Kuwahara scored a season-high four goals apiece in the contest. Carr accounted for the game's first and last tallies and had a score in each quarter, raising her season total to 10. Kuwahara now has 13 goals on the year and chipped in with a team-high five draw controls against Beloit.

Fellow freshmen Savannah Frauhiger, Cass Barbera, and Jenna Doctor each scored twice and Doctor added four assists, the most by a Forester in a game this season. Frauhiger is the only player on the team to score in all seven games in the program's inaugural season while Doctor leads the squad with 16 goals and eight assists.

Lake Forest junior Emma Tryder and sophomore Ryleigh Nelson each had a goal and assist and freshman Abby Meyer added one more score and a team-high three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Lake Forest freshman goalie Calliope Saban finished the game with four saves.

The Foresters led 6-0 at the end of the opening period and 13-1 at halftime. Both teams scored twice in the third quarter and twice more in the fourth.

The victory raised the Foresters' record on the season to 5-2 while Beloit fell to 1-4.

Lake Forest will open Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play at Wartburg College Saturday morning at 11:00. The team will also host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Sunday at noon.
