Lake Forest College women's soccer player Michelle Greeneway was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday for her performance in the Foresters' 5-4 victory over St. Norbert College on Sunday.
Greeneway, a senior forward, scored four of the home team's five goals, beginning with the contest's first score in the 22nd minute. Her second score was on a penalty kick that tied the game at two early in the second half and her third knotted the score at four with 5:50 remaining in the second. Greeneway then kicked in what turned out to be her 29th career game-winning goal with 2:07 on the clock. The victory clinched the Foresters' third MWC championship in the last four years.
Greeneway leads the 2015 Foresters and is tied for second in the nation with 30 goals. Her 104 career scores are easily a team record and rank tied-for-13th in NCAA Division III women's soccer history.
Lake Forest is now 14-2-2 overall this season and will host the four-team MWC Tournament this weekend. The Foresters will take on Knox College in Friday's 2:00 p.m. semifinal with the winner advancing to the final at noon on Saturday.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Greeneway has now earned the award three times this season and eight times in her career.
