The Lake Forest College women's soccer team traveled to Mequon, Wisconsin, to face Concordia University Wisconsin on Wednesday and came away with a 1-1 tie. Junior midfielder Nina Perkkio broke a scoreless tie early in the second half but the visitors were unable to hold onto the lead.
The Foresters doubled up the Falcons on shots in the first half 14-7 but the score remained 0-0 until Perkkio scored her second goal of the year two-and-a-half minutes into the second period.
Concordia Wisconsin tied the score with 11:13 remaining in regulation. Lake Forest attempted 12 shots to the home team's nine in the second half but were unable to retake the lead. The Foresters also out-shot the Falcons 4-1 in the two 10-minute overtime periods combined but were forced to settle for the tie.
Forester junior goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta finished with three saves in the contest.
Lake Forest, ranked 14thin the nation in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Preseason Poll, is now 2-0-1 this season. Concordia Wisconsin has two victories and two ties on the year.
The Foresters will travel to St. Louis this weekend to take on Webster University Friday night at 7:00. The team will also face Evangel University in a game played at Fontbonne University Saturday evening at 5:00.
