The Forester women's soccer team traveled to Iowa and posted a 4-2 victory at Grinnell College on Saturday. Lake Forest junior midfielder Nina Perkkio scored one goal and assisted on two others in the contest.
Perkkio's third goal of the season was assisted by senior forward Michelle Greeneway and gave the visitors a 2-0 lead with two minutes to play in the first half. Freshman midfielder Molly Major had scored the first goal of the contest at 27:04. It was her second score of the year.
Lake Forest had a 9-2 advantage in shots in the opening half and put six of those attempts on goal with the Pioneer goalkeeper stopping four.
Greeneway added to the Foresters' lead three minutes and 45 seconds into the second half with Perkkio assisting on the play. Greeneway netted another score, her team-high 14th of the season, less than 10 minutes later with assists credited to Perkkio and senior midfielder Ellen Rogers.
Grinnell finally got on the scoreboard at the 78:51 mark and added the final goal of the contest less than two minutes later.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 4-2 in the final 45 minutes.
Forester freshman goalie Kaylee Price made a pair of saves in the game and improved to 2-0-1 on the year.
The victory raised Lake Forest's overall record this season to 7-2-2 and lifted the team's Midwest Conference mark to 2-0-1. The Pioneers fell to 2-7-0 overall and 0-3-0 in league play.
The Foresters will complete their weekend trip to Iowa with a game at Cornell College on Sunday. The contest will begin at 11:00 a.m.
