The Forester women's soccer team blanked visiting Lawrence University 4-0 on Sunday. Senior forward Michelle Greeneway scored the game's first and last goals to become the 22nd player in NCAA Division III women's soccer history with 100 career scores.
Greeneway headed in a corner kick from senior defender Sam Hills to give the home team the lead at 30:26. It was the team-high 11th assist of the year for Hillis, who is the active leader in NCAA Division III women's soccer with 44 in her career.
The Foresters struck again less than two minutes later on senior forward Holly Lesperance's 13th score of the season. She intercepted a throw-in along the right sideline, dribbled into the box, and blasted the ball past the Viking goalkeeper to double the Lake Forest lead.
The home team out-shot Lawrence 14-2 in the opening period and led 2-0 at halftime.
The score remained 2-0 until the 79th minute when junior midfielder Kyle Chavarria beat a defender along the left side and kicked the ball into the right side of the net for her second score of the season.
Greeneway netted the final goal of the contest with 4:12 on the clock (video below). She headed a corner kick from freshman midfielder Jo Hendrickson high into the air roughly 10 yards in front of the goal, where Lesperance headed it back to her. Another header by Greeneway sailed over the goalie and into the net for her team-high 26th goal of the season and the 100th of her career.
The Foresters finished the contest with a 31-6 advantage in shot attempts and a dozen corner kicks to the Vikings' one.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaylee Price made a pair of saves for her first shutout as a Forester and improved to 6-0-1 on the year.
The victory raised Lake Forest's overall record to 13-2-2 and the team is now 8-0-1 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence fell to 9-8-0 overall and 4-5-0 in the league.
The Foresters will close out the regular season against visiting St. Norbert College next Sunday at noon. If St. Norbert wins at Ripon College on Wednesday, the winner of next Sunday's contest will claim the 2015 MWC championship.
