The Forester women's soccer team was defeated 3-2 in overtime at Milwaukee School of Engineering in the rain Thursday night. Junior midfielder Lindsay Hartup's first goal of the season tied the score early in the contest.
Hartup's goal from the top of the box was assisted by senior forward Holly Lesperance at the 37:09 mark and made the score 1-1.
The Foresters had a 7-5 advantage in shots during the first period.
The Raiders regained the lead at 70:23 but Lake Forest came back and tied the game again with just 6:28 remaining in regulation. A corner kick from senior defender Sam Hillis cleared the pack in front of the goal and was tapped by freshman midfielder Susie Baca to another freshman midfielder, Molly Major, who launched it back over the goalkeeper's head and into the net. It was Major's first career goal.
MSOE out-shot the Foresters 7-2 in the second half.
A Lake Forest foul in the box set up a penalty kick a little more than two minutes into overtime and the home team converted for the victory.
The loss drops the Foresters' record on the season to 3-2-1 while MSOE improved to 4-2-0.
Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play at Ripon College on Saturday. The rematch of last year's MWC Tournament final will begin at 1:00 p.m.
