Lake Forest College women's soccer player Holly Lesperance was named Midwest Conference Co-Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday while teammate Shari Jacobson was selected as the MWC Defensive Performer of the Week. They helped lead the Foresters to three victories last week.
Lake Forest began the week with a 9-0 rout of visiting Beloit College on Wednesday. Lesperance, a senior forward, scored four goals in the game's first 30 minutes, including the first two just 20 seconds apart. She became one of just two players in program history to score four goals in a game twice in a career. Jacobson, a sophomore defender, anchored a defense that allowed the Buccaneers to attempt just four shots in the contest.
Lesperance scored two more goals in Lake Forest's 2-0 triumph at home over Monmouth College on Saturday. Thanks to Jacobson and the rest of the Forester defense, the team's goalkeeper did not need to make a save to earn the squad's sixth shutout of the year. The Fighting Scots had just one shot attempt on the day.
The Foresters closed out the week with a 4-1 victory over visiting Illinois College on Sunday. Lesperance scored her third game-winning goal of the week in the 60th minute to break a 1-1 tie while the defense limited the Lady Blues to just three shots in the game.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Lesperance also earned the weekly award once as a sophomore.
