The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated Cornell College 7-0 on the road on Sunday, completing a weekend sweep of Iowa's two Midwest Conference schools. Forester senior forward Michelle Greeneway scored four goals for the second time in her career.
After a Cornell own goal in the 17th minute, Greeneway accounted for the next four scores in the contest. She was assisted by senior defender Sam Hillis at the 30:03 mark and junior defender Amy Sherman at 35:12, giving the visitors a 3-0 halftime advantage. Greeneway headed in a corner kick from Hillis 81 seconds into the second half to complete her third hat trick of the season and 13th in her career. Her fourth goal of the day at 50:48 matched her career-high and was assisted by sophomore midfielder Kayla Wuest. Greeneway leads the Foresters with 18 goals this season and now has 92 scores in her career.
Forester freshman defender Susie Baca assisted on freshman midfielder Molly Major's third goal of the season at 58:32 before netting the first goal of her career at 64:46.
Lake Forest junior goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta made one save and improved to 4-2-1 on the year. All four victories have been shutouts and she now has 11 in her career.
The Foresters out-shot the Rams 13-0 in the first half and 10-3 in the second.
The victory raised the Foresters' overall record to 8-2-2 and their MWC mark to 3-0-1. Cornell fell to 2-9-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue conference play at Carroll University Thursday night at 7:00.
