Foresters Rout M.S.O.E. for Ninth Win of the Season

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 5-0 at home on Thursday. Forester junior sweeper Becky Esrock recorded her ninth career multi-goal game.

Esrock accounted for the final two goals of the contest, the first on a penalty kick with 22:38 to play. She then sent a free kick just over the outstretched arm of the Raider goalkeeper and into the net. It was her fourth score of the season and 37th of her career, tying her with Lindsey Kabat (1993-96) for third place in program history. She also surpassed Sarah Bartz (1996-98) for fourth plaec in team history with 89 career points.

Senior Lisa Sorensen, who has also been climbing the program's career ranks, started the scoring just six minutes and two seconds into the game on a hard shot from the right side that snuck under the goalie. Her third goal of the year was assisted by freshman Holly Lesperance. Sorensen is now tied with Jackie Berthiaume (1994-96) for eighth place in school history with 29 career goals.

The Foresters' second goal of the contest was the first of the season by sophomore Megan O'Connor and was assisted by senior Hailey Schleibinger at 34:23.

Lake Forest outshot the visitors 13-3 in the opening period and led 2-0 at halftime. The Foresters also had a 6-5 edge in shots during the final 45 minutes.

Lesperance sent the ball to the right corner and Sorensen crossed it to freshman Michelle Greeneway, who headed it in from point-blank range at 49:11 for the third goal of the contest. It was the team-high 12th of the season for Greeneway and the assist by Sorensen put her into a tie with Berthiaume in that career category as well. They now share sixth place in team history with 24 assists and the number eight spot with 82 points.

Senior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger made five saves in nearly 77 minutes of play in her sixth scoreless start of the season. She lowered her goals against average to 1.23 and raised her save percentage to .815. Junior Maeve Connelly stopped a pair of shots on goal in the final 13:03 to help preserve the team's shutout.

The Foresters are now 9-4-1 overall this season while M.S.O.E. fell to 7-8-1.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play on Saturday when the team hosts Knox College at 1:00 p.m.
