The Lake Forest College women's soccer team blanked Cornell College 5-0 at home on Sunday and is now 2-0-0 in MWC games this season. Forester freshman Michelle Greeneway either scored or assisted on each of the home team's first three goals.
Greeneway's through-ball set up classmate Holly Lesperance with the game's first goal at 6:23. Greeneway then headed in a corner kick from freshman Fiona Jessup less than six minutes later for her third score of the season. Junior Anya Moran also scored for the third time in 2012 with Greeneway picking up the assist at 28:14. Lesperance closed out the first half scoring with her team-high sixth goal of the year at 37:32. Sophomore Audra Donnelly was credited with an assist on the play.
Forester junior Courtenay Raymond converted another corner kick by Jessup at 50:57. It was Raymond's first goal of the season.
Lake Forest outshot the visitors 11-1 in the first half and 7-3 in the second. The home team also had a 7-2 edge in corner kick opportunities.
Forester senior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger made three second-half saves to record her second shutout in as many days. She has now blanked a dozen opponents in her career.
Lake Forest, which opened MWC play by defeating Grinnell College yesterday, evened its overall record at 4-4-0. Cornell fell to 0-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue conference play at Lawrence University next Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
