The Lake Forest College women's soccer team blanked visiting Eureka College 11-0 on Sunday. Junior Anya Moran scored two goals and assisted on another as the Foresters matched the program records for goals in a game and scoring margin.
Lake Forest also won 11-0 against Carroll College (now Carroll University) on October 12, 1994.
Senior Lisa Sorensen scored the Foresters' first goal of the season at the 10:08 mark. Eureka's goalkeeper saved a shot on goal by freshman Michelle Greeneway and Sorensen was there to score off the rebound.
The floodgates opened quickly and the home team netted three more goals in the next two-and-a-half minutes. Greeneway registered her first career score at 11:21 and Moran did the same 26 seconds later off a pass from sophomore Emily Keast. While it took Moran more than two seasons to score her first career goal, the wait for her next one was just 39 seconds. Senior Becky Esrock picked up the assist and the score was 4-0 less than 13 minutes into the contest.
Four more players would score for the first time as Foresters by the end of the opening period. Freshman Holly Lesperance was next at 15:40 and classmate Rachel Laznowski extended the lead to 6-0 at 21:11. Freshman Katie Koenig earned an assist on Laznowski's score, netted a goal of her own at 23:41, and assisted on another score by senior Hailey Schleibinger at 31:47. Junior Elaina Feuerbach, who transferred to the College this season, closed out the first half scoring with an unassisted goal at 33:46, making the score 9-0.
Moran assisted Esrock at the 54:44 mark, giving Esrock three points on the day and 82 in her career, tying her with Jackie Berthiaume for eighth place in program history. Sorensen set up the second goal of the day by Lesperance at 60:49 to close out the scoring.
Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger went untested in the first half and junior Maeve Connelly had one save in the final 45 minutes.
The Foresters are now 1-1-0 on the season and will play at Wisconsin Lutheran College tomorrow night at 7:00.
