The Forester women's soccer team defeated host Lawrence University 5-1 on Saturday to remain perfect in Midwest Conference play. Lake Forest freshman Michelle Greeneway scored three goals, including one just 2:36 into the contest.
Fellow freshman Holly Lesperance assisted on Greeneway's first goal of the day. her second was set up by senior Lisa Sorensen and junior Anya Moran at 14:49. Greeneway and Sorensen then assisted on Moran's fourth score of the season, giving the Foresters a 3-0 lead less than 19 minutes into the game.
Lawrence finally got on the scoreboard at the 39:51 mark and the score was 3-1 after the first half.
Greeneway completed the hat trick and tied Lesperance with her team-high sixth goal of the season just 50 seconds into the second half. Lesperance and Sorensen each earned an assist on the play. Junior Emily Keast closed out the scoring by heading in a corner kick by freshman Fiona Jessup at 68:40. It was Keast's first goal of the year.
Lake Forest had a 13-3 advantage in shots in the first half and a 14-3 edge in the second.
Forester senior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger recorded a save in each period to earn the victory. She lowered her goals against average to 1.50.
Lake Forest climbed above the .500 mark at 5-4-0 this season and the Foresters are undefeated in three conference games. The Vikings fell to 3-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the league.
The Foresters will play at Beloit College at 4:00 next Wednesday afternoon.
