The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 3-2 at Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday night in the opener of the teams' Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series. Sophomore Luke Swardenski's third period goal pulled the Foresters to within a goal but they were unable to complete the comeback.
Swardenski netted his seventh goal of the season at the 1:54 mark of the final period. He was assisted by junior Roberto Caparelli and sophomore Charlie Stein.
MSOE had jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a pair of goals in the opening period and a power play score at 8:18 in the second.
Lake Forest began its comeback effort with a power play goal by sophomore Ben Certo at 15:25 in the second. Stein and sophomore Mcauley Banning assisted on Certo's seventh score of the season.
The Foresters pulled senior goaltender Brendan Sullivan with 51 seconds remaining in the game but were not able to tie the score.

Lake Forest outshot the home team 38-21 on the night but fell to 9-12-5 on the season. The Raiders, who entered the weekend ranked 15th in the nation, raised their record to 16-8-2.
The same two teams will face off again Sunday afternoon at 2:00. If the Foresters win, a 20-minute mini-game will follow to decide which team advances to next weekend's MCHA Harris Cup Four at Adrian College.
