Sophomore forwards Mcauley Banning and Jason McAloon each recorded four points to lead the Lake Forest men's hockey team to a 7-4 victory over visiting Concordia (Wisconsin) on Friday night at Alumni Memorial Rink.
Banning finished with a goal and three assists while McAloon had two goals and two assists.
With the win, the Foresters improve to 8-8-2 overall and 5-7-1 in the MCHA while Concordia falls to 6-12-0 overall and 6-7-0 in the MCHA.
Concordia got on the board with two goals in the first five minutes of the game before Lake Forest got on the board with a power play goal by Pat Charron at 14:55. Banning and McAloon assisted on the goal. McAloon then one timed a shot from the face off circle at 16:34 to tie the game.
Concordia took the lead once again at 19:02 of the first period and headed into the second period with a 3-2 lead.
McAloon gave the Foresters the lead for good 45 seconds into the second period on a power play goal of his own. Banning and Charron assisted on the goal. Banning, Alec DeAngelo and Ben Certo each scored goals in the period to give the Foresters a cushion. DeAngelo's and Certo's goals were each power play goals.
The two teams traded goals in the third period with Lake Forest's Roberto Caparelli scoring a power play goal at 4:33 and Concordia closing out the scoring with a goal at 7:14.
Brendan Sullivan picked up the win in goal for the Foresters with 17 saves.
The two teams meet again on Saturday at Concordia at 7:30 p.m.
