Junior Chris Gard and freshman Will Seeber each scored power play goals and senior goalie Brendan Sullivan made 27 saves to lead the Lake Forest men's hockey team to a 2-0 shutout over visiting St. Mary's Saturday at Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
The Foresters (4-7-2, 1-6-1 MCHA) completed the weekend over the Cardinals (5-6-0, 3-1-0 MIAC) who entered the weekend 8th in the nation in scoring and tied for ninth before today's game. It was the first goal of the season for both Gard and Seeber.
Gard started off the scoring for Lake Forest at 5:16 of the first period and was assisted by sophomore Ben Certo and sophomore Charlie Stein.
Seeber gave the Foresters a 2-0 cushion just 47 seconds into the second period and was assisted by freshman Alec DeAngelo and sophomore Anthony Martinez.
Sullivan stopped six shots in the first period, 12 in the second stanza and nine in the third frame for the win.
The Foresters are off until January 11 and 12 for a weekend series at Northland.
