Lake Forest College men's hockey player Brendan Sullivan was named Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead the Foresters to a win and a tie at Hamline University the previous weekend.
Sullivan, a senior goaltender, stopped all 23 shots on goal he faced in Friday night's 4-0 victory. It was the first shutout by a Lake Forest goalie since Sullivan blanked host Finlandia University 3-0 on November 7, 2009.
Lake Forest skated to a 3-3 tie with the Pipers on Saturday. Sullivan entered the game with the visitors trailing 3-2 after two periods. He hade six saves while holding the Pipers scoreless for the game's final 25 minutes to earn the tie.
After making 29 saves in as many chances on the weekend, Sullivan's save percentage on the season stands at .913.
MCHA Players of the Week are selected y the league's sports information director. Sullivan also earned the award twice last season.
