Lake Forest College women's hockey player Morgan Pope was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring the game-winning goal in both of the Foresters' victories last weekend.
Pope, a senior forward, started the weekend by netting a power play goal in Friday night's triumph over visiting Concordia Wisconsin Friday night. The score gave the home team a 4-0 lead in the second period of a game the Foresters eventually won 5-3.
Lake Forest hosted and defeated Marian University 6-1 on Saturday and Pope scored the Foresters' first two goals of the contest. With the score tied at one early in the second period, she converted a power play opportunity to put the home ahead for good. Pope added two assists later in the contest for a career-high four-point game.
Pope ranks second on the squad with 24 points on eight goals and a team-high-tying 16 assists. She is now fifth in program history with 81 points, tied-for-sixth with 38 goals, and seventh with 43 assists in her career. In addition, her 10 career game-winners rank third in team annals and her 12 power play scores are tied-for-fifth.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations. Pope also earned the award on November 12.
