The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 5-1 at Adrian College Saturday evening in the season opener for both programs. Junior forward Melissa Paluch scored Lake Forest's only goal of the contest.
Paluch converted a power play opportunity at the 14:23 mark of the third period. What turned out to be the final goal of the game was assisted by freshman forwards Amanda Brunges and Taylor Kreiling, who recorded their first career points.
Adrian scored the only goal of the first period with 1:27 on the clock. The home team added another tally at 6:20 in the second, followed by a shorthanded score at 13:43 and a power play goal at 17:40. The Bulldogs' final score of the night came just 11 seconds into the third.
Foreser junior goaltender Allie Carter made a career-high 36 saves in the contest.
The same two teams will face off again Sunday afternoon at 2:00 EST.
