The Lake Forest women's hockey team, which entered the weekend ranked 10th in the nation, was defeated 4-2 at St. Norbert College on Saturday. Forester junior forward Holly Lesperance had a goal and an assist in the contest.
Trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Foresters came back and tied the score in the second. Lesperance took over the team lead in assists with 13 when she set up fellow junior forward Melissa Paluch at the 7:35 mark. It was the ninth goal of the year for Paluch. Lesperance then tied the game on her sixth score of the season at 9:46.
St. Norbert, however, regained the lead with 2:04 remaining in the second period and added an insurance goal at 12:37 in the third.
Lake Forest out-shot the Green Knights 18-9 in the second period and 30-26 on the afternoon.
The Foresters fell to 10-6-3 overall and 9-4-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. St. Norbert improved to 14-6-3 overall and climbed over Lake Forest into second place in the league standings with a 9-4-2 record in conference games.
The Foresters will travel to Adrian College next Saturday for a 6:00 p.m. (EST) face-off with the league's first-place team.
