Lake Forest College women's hockey player Michelle Greeneway was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after becoming the Foresters' career leader in goals over the weekend.
Greeneway, a junior forward, entered the weekend tied with Kim Herring (2008-12) for first place in program history with 63 career goals. Her goal late in the opening period of Friday night's game broke the tie and gave her team a 2-0 lead at Finlandia University. Lake Forest went on to win 8-0 and Greeneway added another goal and an assist in the third period.
The Foresters also skated to a 4-4 tie at the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday and Greeneway earned an assist on the first goal of the contest and scored the visitors' fourth tally.
Greeneway leads the 2014-15 Foresters with 14 goals and 22 points. Her 97 career points rank tied-for-second in team annals with Courtney DeHoey (2004-08) and trail Herring's school record by just eight. Greeneway is also the Lake Forest College women's soccer program's career leader in goals and points.
The victory and tie leave the Foresters with an overall record of 10-5-3 and a league mark of 9-3-2, good for second place in the standings.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the conference's directors of sports information and public relations. Greeneway also earned the honor twice last season and once as a freshman.
