The Lake Forest College women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie at St. Mary's University Friday afternoon. Junior forwards Holly Lesperance and Michelle Greeneway scored first period goals but the Foresters were unable to hold the lead.
Lesperance netted her second goal of the season just 106 seconds into the contest and Greeneway scored for the eighth time this year at 10:01. Freshman forward Olivia Spellmire earned an assist on Lesperance's score and Greeneway's score was set up by junior forward Melissa Paluch and junior defenseman Alex Stensland.
St. Mary's got on the scoreboard at the 7:06 mark of the second period and tied the game at 2:29 in the third.
Forester junior goaltender Allie Carter made 22 saves in the contest, including 17 in the first two periods. She is now 3-2-2 on the season with a .903 save percentage and 2.16 goals against average.
Lake Forest out-shot the Cardinals 29-24 in the game.
The Foresters are now 7-3-2 and St. Mary's 5-5-2 on the season.
Lake Forest will travel west from Winona to St. Peter, Minnesota, to face off at Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
