Lake Forest College women's hockey players Morgan Pope and Allie Carter were named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday. They helped lead the Foresters to a pair of 5-1 victories over visiting St. Norbert College last weekend.
Pope, a senior forward, scored two goals and assisted on another Friday night. She scored the first goal of the game a little more than half-way through the second period and the last at the mid-way mark of the third. The goal she assisted gave the home team a 2-0 lead at the 17:10 mark of the second stanza.
Pope also scored the first goal of Saturday night's contest at 6:33 in the opening period.
Carter, a junior goaltender, stopped 24 of 25 shots on goal Friday night, including 12 of 13 in the final 20 minutes. It was her first victory as a Forester. Carter also finished with 22 saves on Saturday, including nine in each of the first two periods. Her save percentage on the weekend was .958.
Lake Forest is now 2-2-0 on the season.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations.
