Lake Forest College women's hockey player Allie Girard was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring a pair of important goals for the Foresters last weekend.
Girard, a sophomore forward, lifted a shot over the goalie's shoulder with just 2:41 remaining in regulation Friday night, tying Lake Forest's game with visiting College of St. Scholastica 2-2. The score remained tied the rest of the way.
Girard also accounted for the Foresters' second goal in Saturday's 3-1 triumph over the Saints, giving her a game-tying goal and a game-winner on the weekend.
St. Scholastica entered the weekend atop the league standings.
They were the first scores of the season for Girard, who missed the Foresters' first four games of the year due to injury. She now has 10 goals, including three official game-winners, in her career.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations.
