The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 4-2 by visiting
Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday (February 13), one
night after dropping a 5-4 overtime decision at M.S.O.E. Lake
Forest dropped to 7-14-1 overall this season and 7-10-1 in Midwest
Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Raiders raised their
overall record to 13-8-2 and league mark to 12-5-1.
Milwaukee School of Engineering scored the only goal of the opening
period on the power play at 12:23 and out-shot the Foresters 14-8
in the period.
The Foresters evened the score on senior Sean Farley's (Park Ridge,
Ill./Utica College) sixth goal of the year two minutes and 15
seconds into the second period. Farley was assisted by senior
Justin Taylor (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars) and freshman Marc Rubino (Woodbridge, Ontario/St. Michael's Buzzers). Lake Forest
took the lead when Rubino scored his team-high 11th goal of the
year at 11:21. Sophomore Ben Finney (Pontypool, Ontario/Robert
Morris University) and Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills,
Mich./Walpole Stars) each recorded an assist on the power play
goal. The Raiders then converted a power play opportunity of their
own at 13:54 and the game was tied 2-2 after two periods.
The visitors regained the lead on a shorthanded goal at the 3:26
mark of the third period and added an insurance score with 6:20
left on the clock.
Shots on goal were even in both the second (12 for each team) and
third (13) periods.
Forester freshman goaltender Austin Erney (New Ringgold,
Pa./Vermont Academy) finished with 35 saves in his second game of
the season.
The Foresters will close out the regular season next weekend
(February 19-20) against Concordia University Wisconsin. The teams
will face off in Mequon Friday night and Lake Forest on Saturday.
Both contests will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday is also the
Foresters' Senior Night, Alumni Night, Parents Night, and the
annual Peter Taylor Memorial Game and award presentation. A live
radio broadcast of the contest will be available at
