Silvia Kulbokas was one of three Forester freshmen to win twice in the team's 7-2 triumph at Alverno College on Saturday.
Kulbokas and sophomore Allison Watts gave the visitors the early lead with an 8-1 victory at #2 doubles. The Foresters also came out on top at #3, where freshmen Sara Grosse and Samantha Russell prevailed 8-6.
Senior Lucia Stumbras was the first to finish in singles and her 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3 extended Lake Forest's lead to 3-1. After the Inferno earned the point at the top spot in the lineup, Kulbokas finished off a 6-3, 6-0 win at #4 and freshman Leeza Bodnar clinched the match for the Foresters with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at #2. Russell defeated the #6 player from Alverno 6-2, 6-1 and Grosse came back to win 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), (10-1) at #5.
It was Lake Forest's second 7-2 victory in as many matches this season. Alverno fell to 0-2.
The Foresters will open Midwest Conference play at home next Saturday, taking on Grinnell College at 9:00 a.m. and Cornell College at 3:00 in the afternoon.
