Foresters Rout Knox Behind Michelle Greeneway's Second Straight Hat Trick

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team won 8-1 at Knox College on Saturday. Sophomore Michelle Greeneway netted three of the Foresters' goals for the second game in a row.

Greeneway's first two goals were scored just 20 seconds apart late in the opening period and she completed the hat trick 63 seconds into the second half. It was her third three-goal game of the season and fourth in her career and she leads Lake Forest with 17 goals and 38 points this year. Greeneway is now tied for sixth place in program history with 33 career goals and her 78 points rank 10th.

Forester sophomore Holly Lesperance started the scoring just three minutes and two seconds into the contest. Classmate Sam Hillis assisted the ninth goal of the season for Lesperance. Freshman Katelyn Hronek converted a penalty kick at 12:44 to double the visitors' lead. It was her second goal of the season. Hillis also set up Greeneway's first goal at 35:16 and she leads Lake Forest with seven assists on the year. Greeneway's second score was on a penalty kick and the Foresters led 4-0 at halftime.

After Greeneway completed the hat trick, Kyle Chavarria assisted fellow freshman Nina Perkkio at 48:09. Knox finally got on the scoreboard at 51:37, making the score 6-1. Perkkio's second goal of the game and fifth this season came on the Foresters' third penalty kick of the game at 73:53 and freshman Cara Durgin closed out the scoring at 87:56 with her second goal of the year. Freshman Annie Allison assisted on the final score of the game for her first career point.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta shut out the Prairie Fire for the first 45 minutes of the game and freshman Caroline Kirsch made one save during the second half.

Lake Forest out-shot the home team 32-3 in the contest and raised its overall record to 10-4-0 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-2-0. Knox is now 6-9-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the league.

The Foresters will play its final non-conference game of the regular season Wednesday night at Benedictine University. The match will begin at 7:00.
