The Forester women's soccer team won 3-0 at Grinnell College on Saturday in its Midwest Conference opener. Forester sophomore Holly Lesperance started the scoring with her third goal of the season.
The first goal of the game was assisted by sophomore Michelle Greeneway and senior Becky Esrock in the 21st minute. It would prove to be the second game-winner of the season for Lesperance, who led the team in that category with seven in 2012.
Greeneway also assisted on the Foresters' second goal just seven minutes later. It was freshman Kyle Chavarria's second score of the season.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 5-3 in the game's first 45 minutes and led 2-0 at halftime. The Foresters also had a 5-4 edge in shots in the second half.
Freshman Nina Perkkio, who leads Lake Forest with four assists this year, scored her first career goal at 74:08. Classmate Lindsay Hartup assisted on the score.
Forester freshman goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta made five saves in her second career shutout. She is now 5-2-0 on the season.
Lake Forest raised its overall record 6-2-0 while the Pioneers fell to 4-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the league.
The Foresters will play at Cornell College Sunday morning at 11:00.
