The Lake Forest College women's soccer team prevailed 2-1 at Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night. Sophomore Michelle Greeneway scored both of the Foresters' goals and has scored seven times in her last three games.
Greeneway's first goal of the contest gave the visitors the early lead just five minutes and nine seconds into the game. Freshman Katelyn Hronek assisted on the score to record her first career point.
The Raiders tied the game on a penalty kick with less than three minutes remaining in the first half. It was the only goal allowed by Forester freshman goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta, who finished the night with five saves.
Greeneway netted what proved to be the game-winner at the 64:49 mark. Her team-high eighth goal in just four games this season was assisted by fellow sophomore Holly Lesperance. Greeneway is now tied with Sandi Coutts for 17th place in program history with 56 career points.
Lake Forest had six shots in each half while Milwaukee School of Engineering attempted seven in the first 45 minutes and eight after halftime. Eight of the Foresters' shots were on goal compared to six for the Raiders.
The Foresters are now 4-1-0 and M.S.O.E. 1-4-0 on the year.
Lake Forest will play in the "Battle on the Border" at Carthage College this weekend. The Foresters will take on Carthage Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and the College of Mount St. Joseph Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
