Freshman Emma Byrne scored her third goal of the season but the Lake Forest College women's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by visiting Dominican University on Tuesday.
Byrne gave the Foresters the early lead with a score at the 22:11 mark. Lake Forest played the ball into the box and Byrne was able to get a foot on it and send it toward the goal. It came back off a Dominican defender and she put in the rebound for the first goal of the contest.
The Stars evened the score at the 35:44 mark and scored what proved to be the game-winner with 26:42 to play in the game.
Forester sophomore goalkeeper Carrie Wynkoop made four saves in her first start of the season.
Lake Forest out-shot the visitors 5-3 in the first half and 7-5 during the final 45 minutes.
The non-conference loss drops the Foresters' overall record on the season to 8-7-1 while Dominican improved to 10-5-0.
Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at home Sunday afternoon against Illinois College. The contest will begin at 1:30 p.m.
