Sophomore Susie Baca assisted on an early goal and scored the official game-winner in the Lake Forest College women's soccer team's 2-1 triumph at Marian University Tuesday night.
Baca set up the team-high fourth goal of the season by junior Kayla Wuest just 25 seconds into the contest to give the visitors the early lead.
The Foresters doubled their advantage at the 35:14 mark when sophomore Jo Hendriksen's free kick from just outside the box on the left side found Baca, who scored for the second time this year. It turned out to be the first official game-winning goal of her career.
Marian finally got on the scoreboard with just 59 seconds left in the contest.
The Foresters out-shot the home team 9-4 in the first half and 4-3 in the final 45 minutes.
Lake Forest senior goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta made a pair of saves on the night and earned her 41st career victory, two shy of the program record.
The victory lefted the Foresters' record on the season to 5-4-1 while the Sabres fell to 2-6-0.
Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play Saturday night at Lawrence University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
