The Lake Forest College women's golf team climbed a spot in the standings on Sunday and finished fourth at the Midwest Conference Championships. Freshman Anhayte Guajardo posted the team's best round for the third day in a row and placed fifth in the 40-player field.
Guajardo completed Sunday's round in 93 strokes and the three-day tournament in 268, 33 strokes off the lead. She finished 49 shots over par on the par-73 course at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois.
At 94, senior Alex Dunn posted the Foresters' second-lowest round on Sunday and her best score of the event. She climbed five spots in the individual standings to 27th with a three-day total of 303.
Sophomore Frankie Corrado and freshman Kalay Kotasek each carded a 96 on Sunday. It was the third straight 96 for Kotasek, who finished in a tie for 21st place overall. It was the best round of the weekend for Corrado, whose score of 299 was good for 24th place.
Grinnell College won the team competition and its three-day score of 1,018 was 84 shots better than runner-up Carroll University. Monmouth College placed third at 1,120 and the Foresters were fourth at 1,158, two shots ahead of fifth-place Fontbonne University and eight better than sixth-place St. Norbert College. Illinois College rounded out the team standings in seventh place.
Only Grinnell (340) and Monmouth (371) had a lower score than Lake Forest's 379 on Sunday.
The Foresters will continue their 2015-16 season in the spring.
